Seoul has been the country’s capital for 600 years. For those
interested in the history of Seoul, this museum was opened on the site of
Gyeonghigung (Palace) in 2002. It showcases materials and information on the
Korean history and culture ranging from the prehistoric period to the present
time, with the focus on the Joseon Period.
The museum makes refreshing and open-minded attempts to
accurately depict Korean history. Stressing the importance of hands-on
experience, the museum allows visitors to touch and check replicas of relics and
see the relevant information on a screen. With the help of a device with a
sensor attached (distributed at the entrance), visitors can listen to
explanations of each displayed item.
